Institutional and economic mission at Hangzhou, 26th - 27th May 2016

26 May 2016

The Embassy of Italy to the P.R.C. and the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai in coordination with the Italian Trade Agency and the China Italy Chamber of Commerce are organizing an institutional and economic mission at Hangzhou, whose execution is expected the 26th - 27th May 2016.

The objective of the mission is that of strengthening the relations between Italy and Hangzhou at an economic, political and cultural level, also with regard to the great potential expressed from this Municipality that already hosts a consolidated Italian entrepreneurial presence and that registered an economic growth of 10% - significantly more than the national average. Additionally, in September 2016, Hangzhou will host the G20 Summit, a circumstance that will put it in the limelight of Chinese and international public opinion.

During a preparatory visit that took place on February 4th, the Municipal authorities illustrated to the representatives of the Italian institutions in China their program of economic development for the following years, which envisages an intensification of the collaboration with foreign countries, which is seen as a decisive issue not only for the city’s recent economic growth, but also (and more importantly) for the future (the expectation is that of doubling the GDP by 2020, crossing the limit of RMB 2 trillion).

The same authorities expressed great interest in deepening the relations with Italy in various primary sectors characterizing our strategic partnership with China (environment and sustainable energy; agriculture and agribusiness: sustainable urbanization; healthcare; aviation/aerospace) and in other fields such as sport equipment (Hangzhou will host the Asian Olympic Games of 2020), e-commerce, etc.

The program of the event, which is currently under development, entails two days of works with the participation of the main institutions and the local&Italian companies in addition to the media.

CICC will soon publish the event agenda.
