An Overview of China’s Fast-Moving Fashion and Apparel Market

China is one of the most dynamic markets in the world. This is even more true when we consider fashion and apparel, an industry that has grown by leaps and bounds over the last ten years and continues to expand at an exponential rate. 

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), in collaboration with the EU SME Centre, organized on January 24th 2022 the webinar “China Export and Marketing Requirements for Fashion and Apparel Emerging Brands”, which provided an overview of China’s fast-moving fashion and apparel market, from the perspective of market entry strategy, customs, marketing, and taxation. More than 110 spectators registered for the webinar, from Italy, China, United States, Switzerland, Russia, Germany, Canada, France and Finland.

 

 

Mr Lorenzo Riccardi, Managing Partner of RsA Asia and CICC Treasurer, offered an overview of China's international trade in the year 2021, then shared insights into cross-border e-commerce, fashion trends, taxation, new free trade treaties for 2022, which are topics of interest to many emerging brands.

 

 

Mr Gabriele Bessi, Branch Manager of Savino Del Bene Shanghai and member of CICC’s Logistics Working Group, shared his knowledge on essential custom requirements for fashion / apparel export to China and cross-border e-commerce, which covered key regulatory and compliance requirements emerging brands must meet.

 

 

Ms Zoe Chen, China Chief Representative of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), offered a general overview of the fashion and apparel consumer market in China, focusing in particular on the marketing and cultural preferences of Chinese consumers and on business security in terms of IP protection measures.

 

 

 

The webinar, moderated by Mr Alessio Petino, Knowledge Coordinator of EU SME Centre, concluded with a Q&A session.
