POST EVENT - “Environment, Health and Safety Regulations”, 1st March, Shanghai

Dear Members and Friends of CICC,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with Bencham and DUSA is glad to inform you that the Seminar “Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Regulations” was successfully held on March 1st at the International Commerce Tower in Suzhou.

After the registration time, Ms. Emanuela Vizzarro, CICC Shanghai-Suzhou Manager, welcomed guest with an opening speech introducing the speakers and the topics.

The first remarks were introduced by Mr. Xu Hao, Deputy of the Environment Inspection Branch, Department of Ecology and Environment of Suzhou. His topic “Environmental Situation and Protection Measures” focuses on three main parts: facing environmental situation, national environmental protection measures and environmental protection requirements for enterprises.

 

Following his presentation, a first session of discussion was held by Mr. Johnny Broweyes, Director International Operations, Greenment Shanghai Technology, who presented the topic “Ensuring Sustainable Supply Chains in China’s New Environmental Era - New Challenges and new tools“. In his presentation Mr. Broweyes explained China’s “Environmental Storm”, a globally-unprecedented approach to environmental regulatory enforcement which is disrupting business operations and supply chain in China. He concluded with guidance on what leading business are doing to weather the Storm.

The second session was opened by Ms. Mandy Du, Senior Associate, D`Andrea & Partners, who in her presentation, “Environmental Compliance in China”, talked about EHS Legislative Reform and future tendency. She also gave some suggestions to comply with the environmental regulations.

The second speaker of the same session was Mr. Tommaso Colli, General Manager, PHC Advisory Shanghai with the presentation of “Environmental Tax Law”. During the topic’s discussion he focused on general provisions about air pollution, solid waste and noise pollution. Regarding tax law, he analyzed Tax Basis and Tax Amount Payable, Tax Reduction and Exemption, Tax Collection Administration and finally supplementary provisions.

 

The third session was held by Ms. Ellen Zhang, General Manager, Enhesa Shanghai, Ltd, who in her presentation “Why it Pays to Comply with EHS Regulations”, explained the internal, direct and indirect environmental costs analyzing their value for organizations.

The event followed up with a Q&A session, a great chance for the attendees to learn even more from speakers and to ask their thoughts on topic they are interested in.
