On May 27th, the "Tongji Italy Tour" 2025, a series of activities celebrating the 118th anniversary of Tongji University, was successfully held as a practical study tour for well-known Italian companies in China. More than 20 Chinese and foreign teachers and students from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, the School of Design Creativity, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Transportation Engineering, the School of Aerospace and Mechanics, the School of Arts and Media, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning visited ICONA Design Group Shanghai Center and participated in the interdisciplinary automobile design workshop activities.
This event is jointly organized by China Italy Chamber of Commerce(CICC), Tongji University Sino Italian College, ICONA Design Group. Avril Accolla, Board Member of CICC and Associate Professor of the School of Design and Creativity at Tongji University, Chen Wei, Public Affair Manager of CICC were attended.
Enea Colombo, CEO of ICONA Design Group, first delivered a welcome speech, telling the legendary story of ICONA's development and the essence of design, and accepting the “Thank-you Certificate” presented by the student representative.
Tongji University Sino Italian College, China Italy Chamber of Commerce, ICONA Ministry of Commerce, Tongji Science and Technology Park Innovation Service Department, and representatives of Chinese enterprises respectively conducted introductions and exchanges.
At the Sino Italian School Enterprise Teacher Student Symposium, Samuel, the Global Design Director of ICONA, also had a cordial exchange with the students. The attending representatives jointly conducted in-depth discussions on student internships and employment, as well as the need for school enterprise cooperation.
In the workshop session, Marcus, ICONA design master; Fang Yuan, ICONA strategy team leader; Zita, ICONA color team leader; Avril Accolla from CICC and Marco Ajovalasit, head of the PoliMi dual degree program at Tongji University-Politecnico di Milano and associate professor at Politecnico di Milano, jointly guided Chinese and foreign students from different majors. Under the theme of "Future Travel", three groups collaborated across disciplines to present innovative car design solutions for pet travel, outdoor multi scenario use, and comfortable car driving. They also received an honorary certificate signed by their mentors.
ICONA Design Group is a global leader in the fields of transportation and product design. Through the practical study visit activities of Italian enterprises, students' international competence and professional ethics have been further enhanced, laying a solid foundation for the cultivation of innovative talents in Sino Italian engineering.
