2026-03-12

On March 10th, 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) with the support of Generali China Insurance hosted the Members’ Briefing “Market Outlook, Geopolitical Landscape and Business Sentiment” in Beijing. The event offered members a dedicated opportunity to gain timely insights into global and Chinese macroeconomic trends and geopolitical dynamics.

The event, moderated by Federica Viggiani, CCIC Deputy Secretary General and Head of Beijing Office, featured the keynote speech of Robert Xiao, Beijing Director of The Economist Intelligence Corporate Network, who provided an overview of the current global and Chinese macroeconomic outlook, highlighting a period of heightened policy and geopolitical uncertainty. Key trends discussed included the impact of new U.S. tariffs, geopolitical tensions, and rapid technological developments, particularly large-scale investments in artificial intelligence, on global trade, value chains, and investment flows, with significant implications for competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific region.

The discussion also addressed China’s economic outlook, highlighting its continued role as a global manufacturing powerhouse despite slower growth and weak domestic demand, alongside an emerging “two-speed reality” marked by uneven sectoral performance, property market adjustments, and demographic challenges.

The session was followed by a business sentiment discussion featuring representatives from Italian companies operating in China. Jack Yuan, CEO of Generali China Insurance, Andrea Croci, Chief Representative of Intesa Sanpaolo Beijing Representative Office and CCIC Vice President Northern China, Francesco Innocenti, General Manager of Misano Group and Alberto Bruzzese, General Manager of Beijing Fidia Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd., shared perspectives on the outlook for their industries in 2026, the key challenges currently faced by businesses, and strategies to maintain growth and adapt to an evolving market environment.

The event marked the first session of the Members’ Briefing, a dedicated format created to offer CCIC members up-to-date insights and strategic guidance on emerging trends. The initiative sets the stage for future sessions, aimed at keeping members continuously informed and prepared to navigate an evolving business landscape.
