On October 11th, 2026 the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) was pleased to support the initiative "Sino-Italian Legacy Shines, Forging a Win-Win Future -- From the Apennine Peninsula to Hangzhou Bay", organized by Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Haiyan County Committee and the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Haiyan County, Jiaxing City.
The initiative brought together approximately 25 participants, including CCIC Members and members of the Italian Women Association in Shanghai (ADIS). The tour offered attendees the opportunity to discover Haiyan’s landscapes, cultural heritage and local traditions through a guided tour of the area, featuring visits to sites of historical and cultural significance and opportunities to experience the local cuisine.
- In the morning, guests visited an historical loquat plantation and discovered the fruit’s nourishing and medicinal properties. Then the group headed to Shendang Brewing’s wine cellars, founded in 1887, to experience the cultural heritage of repairing jars and taste yellow rice wine.
- After lunch, the visit continued at the Fengyi Village, nestled among mountains and waters and known for the folk art of hand-made Stove Paintings and for the scenic landscape of Moon Lake, a lake formed in a former mining pit.
- To end the visit, guests enjoyed a performance of Haiyan Gun Deng (Rolling Lantern Dance), a traditional folk dance with a long-standing history, held in front of the 638 years-old city walls of Ganpu Town, described as an “excellent harbor” by Marco Polo in his diaries.
Through its support for cultural initiatives, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) seeks to promote the discovery of historical heritage and strengthen cultural ties between Italy and China, creating opportunities for dialogue, exchange and mutual understanding.
