On September 14, 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) and its Healthcare Working Group successfully held a company visit at Shanghai Bracco Sine Pharmaceutical Corp. Ltd. in Shanghai, giving participants an inside view of how the Bracco Group, an Italian company leading in Diagnostic Imaging, operates in the Chinese healthcare market. The event brought together around 40 participants among CCIC Members and partners.
Through presentations and a guided plant tour, participants gained insights into Bracco's industrial footprint in Pudong, its quality and innovation standards, and its role in the R&D, production, marketing and distribution of Contrast Media and Imaging Solutions for hospitals across China.
The afternoon opened with welcome remarks from Valtero Canepa, Head of APAC Region at Bracco Imaging, who later also gave an in-depth introduction to Bracco Sine's operations and strategy in China. Cristina Corsini, CCIC Board Member in Shanghai, brought greetings on behalf of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, while Elena Barboni, BD Director at Flamma S.p.A. and Coordinator of the CCIC Healthcare Working Group, introduced the Working Group's mission and activities.
The programme continued with the “The China Pharmaceutical Market” session, led by Kui Huang, Vice General Manager of Shanghai Pharmaceutical Lin-gang Special Area Co., Ltd. He walked participants through the outlook for China's pharmaceutical sector, covering regulatory developments and the opportunities and challenges awaiting international players, and retraced the roots of the partnership between Shanghai Pharmaceuticals and Bracco: the Bracco Sine plant in Pudong stands today as one of the longest-running Sino-Italian industrial partnerships in the healthcare sector.
Bracco Sine representatives then took the floor to present the company's operations, quality standards and innovation approach in the Chinese market.
An open networking and Q&A session followed, giving participants the chance to exchange views with Bracco and Shanghai Pharmaceuticals representatives on best practices and opportunities for collaboration in the life sciences sector.
The afternoon closed with a guided tour of the plant, offering a first-hand look at Bracco's industrial footprint in Pudong and its R&D, production and distribution of Contrast Media and Imaging Solutions.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to foster dialogue between Italian and Chinese businesses, share best practices in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and create opportunities for future collaboration within the life sciences ecosystem.
The CCIC wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Shanghai Bracco Sine Pharmaceutical Corp. Ltd. for hosting the visit, to Shanghai Pharmaceuticals for its dedicated session, and to all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and valuable contribution to the event's success.
