On 26 August 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) in collaboration with its member D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel, hosted an insightful seminar in Guangzhou.
This CEO Breakfast Gathering titled “Navigating the AI+HR Wave: Legal Pitfalls and Compliance Overhaul Triggered by ‘AI Replacement’ Debates”, drew a highly engaged audience of professionals from multinational companies, legal advisory, and human resources.
Following the brief welcome address by Romina Di Martino, South China Manager of CCIC, the seminar featured two distinguished speakers:
- Matteo Zhi, Equity Partner of D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel
- Devin Li, Deputy General Manager at PHC Advisory Tax & Accounting
Matteo Zhi clarified that under Chinese law, AI-driven replacement does not justify unilateral dismissal, urging jurisdiction-specific compliance. Devin Li demonstrated AI's practical use in finance, tax and payroll, emphasising that AI amplifies rather than replaces expertise.
Together, they examined AI's impact on workforce management from legal, fiscal and operational perspectives, calling for procedural fairness and adaptive frameworks.
The seminar concluded with a lively Q&A session, where participants raised practical concerns about implementation, risk allocation, and cross-jurisdictional alignment. The event underscored the urgent need for businesses to embed procedural fairness, cross-functional governance, and adaptive compliance frameworks into their AI adoption strategies.
