Position in the Organization

Report to: Global Sourcing Manager (based in Spain)

Main responsibilities

Supplier Identification & Development

1.Map, identify, and qualify suppliers in China specialized in equipment and components for meltshop and rolling mill applications.

2.Build and maintain a reliable supplier network aligned with the company’s technical and quality requirements.

Strategic Sourcing

1.Conduct supplier benchmarking, cost analysis, and negotiations to ensure competitive advantage.

2.Support localization strategies for specific components and systems.

Quality & Compliance

1.Work closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with international quality standards, certifications, and company requirements.

2.Support supplier audits and performance reviews.

Collaboration

1.Act as the key liaison between suppliers in China and the global sourcing team in Spain.

2.Support engineering, procurement, and project teams with supplier-related input during project execution.

Market Intelligence

1.Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and pricing developments within the steelmaking equipment supply base in China.

Experience:

1.5+ years of sourcing/procurement experience, preferred in heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or steelmaking equipment.

2.Previous experience sourcing for or collaborating with major International OEMs (Danieli, SMS, Primetals, Tenova, Inteco, Pomini) or Chinese OEMs (Sinosteel, CISDI…) is preferred.

3.Proven track record of building and managing supplier networks in China, particularly in meltshop and rolling mill equipment, is preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

1.Understanding of mechanical fabrication, machining, casting, forging, and other processes relevant to steelmaking equipment.

2.Understanding of fluid engineering equipment (Hydraulic, lubrication, grease, pneumatic).

3.Understanding of electric engineering equipment for both medium and low voltage.

4.Familiarity with international standards (ISO, EN, CE) and supplier qualification processes.

Skills:

1.Negotiation and supplier management skills.

2.Ability to evaluate cost structures and identify savings opportunities.

3.Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and spoken).

4.Excellent communication and intercultural skills.

Other:

Willingness to travel frequently within China to visit suppliers and occasionally to global sites.
