On August 28, 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) took part at the Appointment Ceremony of the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce Italian Representative Office and the Shanghai–Italy Economic and Trade Exchange Conference in Shanghai. The event brought together representatives from government institutions, chambers of commerce, financial institutions, and businesses to discuss new opportunities for China–Italy economic and trade cooperation.
The CCIC was represented by Mattia Marino, CCIC Vice President East China, and Wei Chen, Public Affairs Manager.
Yang Dongsheng, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Chairman of the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce (COIC), and Lorenzo Riccardi, Chairman of the EUSME Center, delivered speeches. Hon. Vinicio Peluffo, President of the “Friends of China” Parliamentary Association of Italy, also delivered an opening speech via video.
During the keynote session, Mattia Marino delivered a presentation titled “Italy, Your Gateway to Europe: The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China at Your Side for the Journey,” highlighting Italy’s strategic role as a gateway to the European market, its industrial strengths, and the CCIC’s experience in supporting Chinese and Italian companies in developing cross-border business opportunities.
The Vice President congratulates the COIC establishing a representative office in Italy, creating new opportunities for Sino Italian economic and trade cooperation through building exchange platforms. The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China will continue to assist Chinese enterprises in exploring the European market and promote the integration of high-quality Italian resources with Shanghai and domestic industrial development.
The event also featured an online speech by Du Ruigang, Deputy General Manager of Bank of China Milan Branch, who shared insights into Chinese companies’ investments in Italy, current challenges, and financial considerations.
During the exchange session, participants discussed China–Italy economic and trade cooperation, market expansion, investment risks, and industrial chain collaboration, exploring opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries.
