On 22 July, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) took part in a meeting held at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing with the delegation of the Italian Parliamentary "Friends of China" Association, led by its President, Hon. Vinicio Peluffo, as part of the parliamentary mission to China.
The meeting followed the delegation's visit to Hangzhou, where CCIC co-organized the second edition of the China-Italy Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum and participated in discussions between the parliamentary delegation and Italian companies operating in the region.
During the meeting at the Embassy, CCIC Chairman Gianni Di Giovanni addressed the future of Italy–China economic cooperation, highlighting that the mission comes at a particularly significant moment for bilateral relations, as China embarks on the implementation of its 15th Five-Year Plan, with an increasing focus on technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, sustainable mobility, and the green transition.
In his remarks, Di Giovanni emphasized the contribution that Italian companies can make in these strategic sectors thanks to their expertise in advanced mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial automation, and sustainable mobility technologies. He also reiterated the importance of strengthening a stable and pragmatic economic dialogue between Italy and China.
Speaking on behalf of the Italian business community in China, Di Giovanni also outlined several priorities considered essential to fostering new investment and further strengthening bilateral cooperation. These include greater reciprocity in market access, enhanced regulatory predictability, the conclusion of a social security totalization agreement, simplified mobility for skilled professionals, and a more structured dialogue between institutions and the business community.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for dialogue between Italian institutions and the Italian business community in China, reaffirming the value of close cooperation between the public and private sectors in supporting stronger economic ties between the two countries.
