From Brescia to China: Dialogue with Confagricoltura Brescia

2026-02-04

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CICC) recently took part in a constructive exchange with Confagricoltura Brescia – Unione Provinciale Agricoltori, focused on opportunities for agri-food companies from the Brescia area interested in approaching the Chinese market. CCIC was represented by Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi, Vice Chairman in Shanghai, Fabio Lambertini, and General Manager, Antonella Fontanarosa.

The discussion addressed key topics such as market accessemerging consumer and industry trends, and effective strategies for engaging—through a concrete and informed approach—with a market as vast and complex as China. Sustainability played a central role in the dialogue, alongside numerous insightful questions raised by the Italian delegation, composed of observers on an exploratory visit seeking to better understand a country that combines strong innovation with deeply rooted traditions.

The meeting was held within a system-level framework, with the participation of the main Italian institutions operating in China, including the Italian Consulate, ITA – Italian Trade Agency (Shanghai)SACE, and CCIC.

The delegation from Brescia comprised 14 companies representing strategic agri-food sectors such as corn, dairy products, and olive oil, and was led by Giovanni Garbelli, President of Confagricoltura Brescia.

Founded in 1916, Confagricoltura Brescia, through its Unione Provinciale Agricoltori (UPA), continues to serve as a longstanding reference point for agricultural enterprises in the region, supporting their development and international outlook.
