On 16 April, on the sidelines of the visit of Vice‑President and Minister Antonio Tajani to Beijing and Shanghai, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) met with Confindustria to reinforce support for Italian companies operating in and with China. Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi and Vice‑President Barbara Cimmino aligned strategic priorities, with Secretary General Fabrizio Costa and Vice‑Secretary General Federica Viggiani also attending.

Discussions addressed market access, regulatory and certification hurdles, facilitation of business operations, and targeted support for SMEs in manufacturing, luxury, agri‑food and green technologies. The meeting also highlighted the growing presence of Italian students at Chinese universities and the strategic role of R&D cooperation: strengthening academic exchanges and joint research projects was identified as key to long‑term innovation and competitiveness.

Building on last year’s renewed Memorandum of Understanding, both organizations committed to a structured, results‑oriented collaboration. Several missions of Italian companies to China organised by regional Confindustria bodies are already underway, and the Chamber is collaborating with Confindustria to support Chinese companies visiting Italy. The partnership aims to turn diplomatic momentum into tangible projects that foster jobs, innovation and sustainable trade.
