2026-05-26

Shanghai, 26th May 2026 – The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to announce the signing of a commercial cooperation agreement with Trenitalia, a company of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, aimed at supporting the development and strengthening of the Trenitalia brand in the Chinese market and fostering new business opportunities. The Chamber already promotes Italian tourism in China through its collaboration with ENIT S.p.A. – the Italian National Tourism Agency, contributing to increasing interest in Italy’s destinations and services.

The agreement establishes a structured framework of cooperation focused on promoting Trenitalia’s services through integrated communication activities, event organization, and operational support in the Chinese territory, in line with the mission of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China to support and facilitate the entry and consolidation of Italian companies in the People’s Republic of China.

In recent years, the Chinese market has shown significant growth for Trenitalia: in 2025, sales doubled compared to the previous year and, in the first quarter of 2026, the number of passengers recorded a further doubling compared to the same period in 2025, confirming the strong development potential and the growing attractiveness of Italian railway mobility services for the Chinese public.

In this context, Gianni Di Giovanni, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, stated:

"The collaboration with Trenitalia confirms the role of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China as a reference platform for supporting and accompanying the internationalization process of Italian companies in the Chinese market. Through this agreement, we aim to promote the development of Trenitalia’s activities in China, facilitating dialogue with local stakeholders and operators and, at the same time, contributing to the promotion of Italian excellence in the fields of mobility, transport, and tourism.

In a context of growing attention to sustainable mobility, infrastructure innovation, and service quality, we believe that Italian know-how can represent a strong added-value element for strengthening economic cooperation between Italy and China."

Francesco Cacciapuoti, Sales Director of Trenitalia, commented:

"This agreement represents a concrete step in strengthening our presence in China, a strategic market with high potential. Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, we will be able to expand our network of local relations, develop new partnerships, and promote even more effectively the experience of traveling in Italy through Trenitalia’s railway system and integrated services".

Today, the Chinese market represents an area of growing interest for Italian companies operating in the tourism and mobility sectors. Through this collaboration, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China confirms its commitment to promoting development opportunities in the country’s main economic hubs, supporting strategies focused on innovation, digitalization, and the evolution of distribution models.
