General Cab | Company Intro

2026-09-30

Established in 1982, General Cab is a privately owned Italian company delivering electric motor-fans and integrated mechatronic solutions to global OEMs operating in the truck, bus, agricultural, off-highway, and heavy-duty equipment sectors. With production facilities in Italy, Tunisia and China, and a U.S.-based warehouse and commercial team supporting the North American market, we combine international reach with strong industrial roots.

Building on deep expertise in individual components, we develop brushed and brushless axial and centrifugal motor-fans alongside customized mechatronic assemblies for demanding environments. Our solutions are increasingly applied beyond traditional vehicle platforms, serving a growing range of industrial sectors.

Thanks to vertically integrated capabilities – from proprietary motor design to plastic molding, co-molding and electronic integration – we maintain full technical control over every component and complete system we produce. Managing the entire development process internally, we ensure performance, durability and industrial scalability across multiple industries.

GENERAL CAB IS BORN

General Cab was founded in 1982 by a brother and a sister who continue to actively lead the company today, together with their families.

The journey began with wiring systems and mechatronic component assembly, building deep technical expertise starting from each individual part. The opening of the production site in Celle Enomondo marked the first step toward an industrial culture based on manufacturing know-how, technical competence and long-term vision. From the very beginning, the company grew by mastering every component before moving to the finished product.

INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION

During the 1990s, General Cab strengthened its manufacturing structure through plant expansions and the introduction of electric motor assembly for automotive applications. In-house plastic injection molding was established, enabling the company to control both mechanical and electrical components internally. Production capabilities were also extended to applications beyond the core automotive sector, supported by the same internal manufacturing expertise.

The opening of the Tunisian plant marked the company’s first international manufacturing expansion.

FROM COMPONENTS TO SYSTEMS

The 2000s represented a decisive technological step. An internal R&D department was created to design proprietary electric motors—and soon after, complete system solutions including motor-fans, shrouds and integrated assemblies. The establishment of an internal tooling workshop further reinforced vertical integration, giving full control over mold design and production.

During this decade, General Cab entered the electric motor-fan segment for air-conditioning and heat  exchanger applications, moving from component expertise to fully engineered finished products developed in-house.

GLOBAL GROWTH

The 2010s were marked by strategic expansion and diversification. Through the acquisition of a specialized company, General Cab strengthened its expertise in brush-holder assemblies and mechatronic components, significantly expanding its external customer base.

The establishment of a warehouse and commercial operations in the United States brought the company closer to the North American market, reinforcing customer support and responsiveness. At the same time, plastic molding and co-molding capabilities were increasingly applied to non-automotive markets, leveraging internal competencies across different industries. This decade consolidated General Cab as a fully integrated system supplier, working in close collaboration with OEMs and supporting them from component design to complete system solutions.

INNOVATION AND GLOBAL VISION

The 2020s mark a new technological evolution with the development of brushless motor platforms and a significant expansion of the electric motor-fan and mechatronic product range. The acquisition of operations in China further strengthened the company’s international footprint, while the construction of a new facility in Tunisia represents a major step in supporting future growth and increased manufacturing capacity.

Electric motor-fans are now being developed for applications beyond traditional automotive segments, while advanced mechatronic capabilities—including plastic injection molding, co-molding and electronic integration—enable General Cab to deliver complete, engineered solutions across multiple industries.

An international company with Italian roots, General Cab continues to grow globally while maintaining its engineering direction, ownership, and industrial leadership firmly based in Italy.
