Shanghai Meifan Yacht Club (SYC) is a Hong Kong-invested enterprise established and registered in Qingpu District, Shanghai, in 2007. SYC, located at Dianshan Lake in Qingpu, specializes in sailing, sports promotion, event organization and waterfront development. With nearly two decades of industry experience, the Club has contributed to the development of sailing in China through cooperation with national and local sports authorities.
In 2014, SYC established the market-oriented NACRA 17 SYC National Sailing Team, introducing private-sector resources into competitive sailing outside the traditional state-run sports system. Athletes trained through the team have represented China at the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games, while the team also secured a gold medal for Shanghai in the NACRA 17 event at the 14th National Games of China.
Today, SYC has more than 3,000 offline family memberships and has organized over 300 sailing events. The company has also been recognized as a National Sports Industry Demonstration Unit and has participated in a number of national and municipal sports and leisure development initiatives.
NEXT PHASE DEVELOPMENT
Building on its experience in sailing and waterfront operations, SYC is now advancing the Yangtze River Delta International Sailing Hub Port Sports Complex, a project covering approximately 180,000 square meters. Designed as an integrated platform combining sports, tourism, culture, sustainable development and innovative industries, the project is scheduled to begin construction by the end of 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2029.
The project will be developed in cooperation with TUI Group, combining SYC’s expertise in sailing operations, events and waterfront development with TUI’s international experience in tourism, hospitality and destination management. The cooperation also plans to introduce the ROBINSON sports resort brand as part of the project’s tourism and hospitality offering.
In parallel, SYC is investing in the research and development of new-energy hydrofoil vessels and sustainable marine technologies, supporting greener water mobility and future-oriented water sports applications. Through these initiatives, the company aims to deepen international cooperation in sports, culture and tourism while contributing to sustainable development across the Yangtze River Delta.
