EVENT RECAP | Iperitif is Back! Shanghai, March 14th

18 三月 2024

The Intellectual Property Working Group (IPWG) of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce held on March 14th at the Italian Restaurant Pastificio Momenti, the first of a series of networking events, the Iperitif. The evening saw the participation of nearly 30 company representatives from different sectors.

The event was started by Carlo Geremia, IPWG Vice-coordinator and Senior Counsel of ADVANT Nctm in Shanghai, who gave a brief introduction to the IPWG and the held activities in the past two years.

The general discussion of the evening covered two main topics: the European Unitary Patent and its recent developments and Intellectual Property in the fashion industry.

Simona Inchigalo, aerospace engineer and partner at Bugnion Spa, explored the first point, introducing the Unitary Patent, the Unitary Patent Court and the new Central Division of Milan. This new intellectual property right confers upon a European patent a unitary effect with validity in most of the member states of the European Union.

Elle H., China Legal Director at Prada Group, covered the second point, sharing insightful personal experiences. The audience had a glimpse of the biggest challenges faced by the IP in the luxury fashion world in the past year, for example, copycats or data protection issues.

The talk was moderated by Fabio Giacopello, senior partner at HFG LAW & IP and Coordinator of the IPWG, who also provided an overview of the program of the IPWG for the near future.

The audience was very involved in this matter and wanted to explore the topics further raising different questions for all speakers.

The evening concluded with an aperitif where the attendees had the chance to share their experiences and connect.

The CICC would like to thank all the participants, the speakers and Pastifico Momenti for their hospitality.
