SEMINAR IPWG, 30.10, Shanghai

31 Ottobre 2025

On Thursday, 30 October 2025, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and its Intellectual Property Working Group (IPWG) successfully hosted the seminar “Expansion of Chinese E-commerce Abroad: The Intellectual Property Perspective. A Dialogue with Claudio Bergonzi, Global Anti-Counterfeiting Team at Alibaba Group”. The event took place at Allasya Law & IP in Shanghai. It offered attendees valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of Chinese e-commerce platforms expanding internationally, with a focus on intellectual property compliance.

Highlights of the event included:

  • Fabio Giacopello (Allasya Law & IP, CICC IPWG) introduced the Working Group, its mission, and upcoming initiatives to enhance understanding and enforcement of intellectual property standards in international e-commerce.
  • Claudio Bergonzi (Alibaba Group) engaged with IPWG members to discuss IP protection across Alibaba’s global platforms, highlighting key achievements and ongoing challenges.
  • Around 20 participants—including industry professionals, legal experts, and e-commerce practitioners—attended the seminar.
  • The seminar explored key aspects of intellectual property protection, stressing the need for a proactive and collaborative approach where human expertise and technology work together. Speakers underlined that AI and digital tools can strengthen IP enforcement only when guided by human judgment, ethical oversight, and coordinated action.
  • The discussion also pointed to the IP portal as a valuable tool for international cooperation, and concluded with an encouragement to cultivate continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation in response to the evolving challenges of the global IP landscape.
