21 Giugno 2021

Dear Members and Friends,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is pleased to inform you that the Masterclass “Food Synergies: Balsamic Vinegar & Soy Sauce” was held on Friday 18 June 2021 at Park Hyatt Beijing.

The Masterclass offered the opportunity to get to know the authentic Italian balsamic vinegar, taste a wide selection of different balsamic vinegar products and find out its use in combination with ingredients of the Chinese cuisine to promote it to the local public.

The event was opened by the institutional greetings of Simone Panfili, First Secretary of Economic and Commercial Office at Embassy of Italy to the P.R.C., Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commissioner and Coordinator of ITA Offices in China and Mongolia, and Giulia Gallarati, Secretary General of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce.

Immediately after, Mr. Cao Difei, famous host and Gastronomic Columnist, explained to the local audience the importance of selecting authentic Italian products referring to I.G.P and D.O.P certificates. The Gourmet Curator Mrs. Lynn Zhu, then, presented the product and its features to the local audience of F&B experts.

On this occasion, the Michelin starred Italian chef and owner of the Italian restaurant Alchimia, Mr. Alberto Zago, and the GM & Partner of Bella Vita Italian Restaurant, Mr. Samuele Rossi, prepared two dishes that involved the use of Italian balsamic vinegar: skewers of fried chicken fillet marinated with soy, smoked paprika and balsamic vinegar sauce and a strawberry sorbet with balsamic vinegar.

The Masterclass was attended by around 50 Chinese operators within the F&B sector, including media, journalists, KOLs, importers and distributors and HORECA channel operators.

The CICC is committed to promote the authentic Italian food Products in order to counter the phenomenon of Italian Sounding. This refers to those products that indicate an Italian origin, with words, images, colour combinations or geographical references that are misleading for the consumer, but which are not belonging to an authentic Made in Italy production chain.

The project "True Italian Taste", which this Masterclass is part of, aims at protecting authentic Italian products through promotional actions raising awareness of the genuine Italian Food & Wine productions among Chinese consumers. The project is promoted and financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and carried out by Assocamerestero in collaboration with the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad and it is part of “Extraordinary Italian Taste".

The event was hosted by Valentina Rigoni, Office Manager of our Office in Beijing.

Special thanks to:

Kind Regards,
The CICC Team
