CSR Activities and Impacts of the Automotive Sector amid COVID-19, 6th July 2020 - Shanghai

Dear Members and Friends,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the German Chamber of Commerce in China | Shanghai, is inviting industry and professionals from multinational automotive enterprises to share their insights on how CSR efforts of the automotive businesses are evolving in light of the pandemic.

The total volume of automobile industry sales in China reached 25 million units in 2019, around 21 million units out of which were passenger cars. The passenger vehicle segment includes sedans, sport-utility vehicles and multi-purpose vehicles, where sedans were the most popular passenger car type in China as of 2018. In terms of electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles (BEV) were sold around three times more than plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in 2019, with BEV sales reaching almost one million units. Among alternative energy vehicles, sedans were still the dominanting car type with 87.5 percent as of end of 2018. Topic to be discussed:

  • General CSR strategy: before the crisis and now, did the strategy itself change due to the outbreak? How fast was it adapted?
  • Did COVID-19 impact any ongoing, long-term projects, or might it affect the future? Is the company able to carry-on with its scheduled projects (for 2020 and beyond) and what are the challenges?
  • How did the pandemic affect the annual CSR budget of the company?
  • Looking forward, how does the future of CSR for the automotive industry look like? Are there any relevant aspects that will significantly change?

We invite all like-minded industry peers and all CSR interested parties to join us for this exciting panel of experience exchange and learnings, followed by a discussion among our panelists, and a Q&A session with the audience.
