CICC Members’ Meeting in Eastern China, Suzhou

17 Settembre 2025

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) welcomed over 100 partecipants to Suzhou for the Eastern China Members’ Meeting.

Institutional representatives — Consul General Tiziana D’Angelo, ITA-ICE Director in Shanghai Augusto di Giacinto, and SACE Head in China and East Asia Donato Morea — highlighted the importance of cooperation to support businesses in China.

The event opened with remarks from Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi and Board Director Lorenzo Bali, followed by a keynote from Prof. Roberto Donà (Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University) on the evolving role of Italian enterprises in the global context. Prof Dona’ shared why, in today’s rapidly changing global landscape, it still makes strong sense for Italian companies to continue investing in China.

He underlined how “The Chinese Way”—a development path driven by relentless innovation in digitalization and sustainability—will power global growth in the coming decade. For Italian enterprises, engaging in this process is not just an opportunity but a strategic necessity, and success will depend on preserving our ItalianDNA in China, investing in young talents who will become the future leaders of our companies.

Chairman Riccardi presented the CICC 2025–2026 Agenda and the Economic Trends Survey, confirming that China remains a strategic priority for most members despite market challenges.

CICC Chairman stressed the strategic importance of Suzhou for the Italian business community and the Chamber’s ongoing work on governance. The agenda highlights include: a stronger focus on members’ interests through company visits, seminars, working groups and networking; closer cooperation within the international Chambers’ network; a renewed CICC identity, with new offices in Eastern China and the relocation of the Shanghai office to The Center, where all the offices of the Italian System are based; increased media exposure; enhanced advocacy with Italian and Chinese institutions; dedicated initiatives for SMEs; the launch of quarterly Business Sentiment Surveys and new studies; and upcoming business missions between Italy and China.

Vice Chairman Mauro Maggioni and Board Member Davide Angelibusi shared regional perspectives, recalling highlights such as the Panda d’Oro Gala and successful networking initiatives.

Looking ahead, upcoming flagship events and expanded initiatives were shared, underscoring the Chamber’s commitment to delivering value to its members.

A warm thank you to all members and guests who joined us — with a special mention to the students of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, whose curiosity and participation enriched the discussion. Your contribution is what makes the Chamber a strong and vibrant community
