EU AND GUANGDONG: OPPORTUNITIES FOR CLOSER COOPERATION – CELEBRATION OF 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF EU-CHINA RELATIONS

As part of the celebration of 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the EU and China, the Delegation of the European Union to China and the EU Chamber of Commerce in China with the support of Consulates General of EU Member States in Guangzhou, invites you to a special event for European and Chinese business community members to celebrate the Europe Day.

The guests of honour for this event will be H.E. Dr. Hans Dietmar SCHWEISGUT, Ambassador of the European Union to China, Ambassadors to China of 15 EU Member States as well as Consuls General in Guangzhou. The event will also be attended by the local authorities.

The past 40 years of EU-China trade relations have been a success story in many ways, generating significant mutual benefit and making the EU and China deeply interdependent. As the EU and China have changed, so have the challenges of our relations. We need to come up with new focal points, address emerging areas of cooperation, and engage China globally. China is increasingly shaping the agenda. Few challenges in the world can be solved without China. We should remain confident that the same is equally true for Europe – also for the next 40 years. A new holistic approach from both China and the EU (both its institutions and Member States) will be needed to tackle the complex issues testing our future relationship.
