HCWG & EEPWG Seminar, Shanghai, 19th September

On Friday, 19 September 2025, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), in collaboration with its Healthcare Working Group (HCWG) and its Energy & Environmental Protection Working Group (EEPWG), successfully hosted the seminar “Sustainability in Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Energy industry”. The event took place at the Intesa Sanpaolo Office in Shanghai.

 

 

The seminar focused on recent developments in environmental sustainability and ESG practices within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, with particular attention to solvent recovery, decarbonization, and the use of ESG tools such as the Solvent Eco-Impact Metric. Participants also received an overview of relevant ESG and CSR regulations applicable in China.

 

 

A contingent of 35 people, including healthcare, pharmaceutical, and energy industries professionals, attended the seminar. 

 

Opening remarks were delivered by the General Manager at Intesa Sanpaolo Shanghai Branch, Mario Huang. The speakers then shared their presentations as follows:

  • Elena Barboni (Corporate BD Director – Flamma SpA and Vice-Coordinator of the CICC HCWG),
  • Anne Lise Kopp (Corporate ESG Director – Flamma SpA)
  • Alessia Galbiati (Corporate HSE Director – Flamma SpA) presented Flamma Group’s commitment to sustainability and HSE in chemical-pharmaceutical companies, focusing on solvent recovery, circular economy approaches, and a company case study.
  • Luigi Fiato (Director APAC – Rina and Coordinator of the CICC EEPWG) provided an introduction on the Working Group and shared insights on the current environmental legislation in China.
  • Bruno Lhopiteau (Managing Director – Siveco China) delivered a presentation on Sustainable Assets Management, highlighting the digitalization of asset management and insights from China’s environmental industry applied to pharmaceuticals.
  • Allen Zhou (BD Director – Alpharmaca Inc.) presented a case study on Green Pharmaceutical Practices and ESG Implementation.

 

The session concluded with a Q&A, allowing participants to interact directly with the speakers and address key issues in the field.

The event fostered valuable networking opportunities, encouraging dialogue on sustainability and ESG practices within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. It gave Italian companies the chance to showcase their expertise in green technologies, solvent recovery, and circular economy approaches, underlining Italy’s active role in promoting responsible and innovative business models in China.
