21 Dicembre 2020

Dear Members and Friends of CICC,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), as a leading partner of the EU SME Centre, is glad to inform you that the online workshop "Entering the Chinese Market through the power of Social Networks in China. Cross-Border E-commerce and its opportunities" took place successfully via Zoom on December 18th, 2020. The Workshop focused on the digital world in China, on the trends of Chinese consumers and the most popular digital platforms. It was aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises located in Europe, interested in approaching the Chinese market. The event was attended by many experts of the sector, for a total of more than 70 people connected.

Ms. Giulia Gallarati, Secretary General of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, was the moderator of the workshop. She first gave a brief introduction of the contents of the workshop and presented the two organizers - the CICC and the EU SME Centre - then passed the stage to the speakers.

The first speaker of the workshop, Mr. Stefano Generali, Managing Director Intarget China, gave a deep insight into Digital export: Global strategies and local marketing and about the power of social networks in China. According to Generali's point of view, in a fast-changing global market, one of the biggest challenges for companies is to keep consistency between their global strategy and the different communications actions required by local markets: this is especially true in China, where a very unique digital environment in terms of platforms, trends, and customer habits often anticipates the global trends.

Following, Ms. Ambra SchilliròPr and marketing director Social Cloud, analyzed how shopping, in China, is considered more than just a transaction. For this reason, she focused on the importance of influence marketing as a key pillar of digital marketing strategy in China, explaining us the rolo of KOL, KOC and daigou: 3 major players in cross-border influencer marketing.

Subsequently, Mr. Andrea Fenn, award-winning digital strategist and CEO of Fireworks, analyzed and presented an overview of Digital Opportunities in China in 2021. With his presentation, he gave us hints about how to observe the different Chinese social media, together with their trends and behavior.

The last speaker, Mr. David Ries, Business development Manager at TRIBOO , went into the details of the Cross-Border e-commerce in China, from platforms of choice to modes of importation, and primary points of consideration for brands contemplating an entry into the Chinese market, including the keystones of a successful strategy.

The Workshop was lastly closed by section of Q&A, during which the participants brought up many interesting and inspiring questions related to the topic.
