On August 19th, 2025, a bilateral meeting was held between the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chongqing Committee (CCPIT Chongqing) at the latter’s office.
CICC was represented by Vice President Massimo Bagnasco and Chongqing Promoter Franco Bergamino, while CCPIT Chongqing was led by Chairwoman Deng Lin and Vice President Yang Xuchao.
Chairwoman Deng opened the meeting by sharing the latest data on Chongqing’s 2025 economic development and Sino-Italian trade cooperation: Chongqing maintained high-quality growth in 2025, with first-half GDP up 5.0% and foreign trade outperforming the national average. Chongqing-Italy trade shows promising prospects, with 2024 bilateral imports and exports reaching around 5.92 billion yuan (+2.2% YoY) and 2.58 billion yuan in H1 2025, signaling positive future growth.
Vice President Massimo Bagnasco then outlined CICC’s role and mission in China. Vice President Bagnasco shared insights from the latest business survey and trends of Italian companies in the Chinese market, and together with CCPIT Chongqing, expressed the wiliness to facilitate more cooperation with local enterprises also through the EU SME Centre.
Both parties discussed potential collaborations about the Alliance of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, as well as two major Chongqing fairs: the China International Motocycle Trade Exhibition and the Chongqing International Consumer Products Exhibition. They also planned to cooperate on business to business and enterprise-local authority initiatives to create more business opportunities between the CICC members and the Chongqing enterprises.
