This year, the Italian restaurants certified with the “Italian Hospitality Seal 2015-2016” were firstly announced on 7th November at ITA pavilion within Food hospitality China Exhibition (FHC) during a Press Conference dedicated to the “Italian Hospitality” project and to other activities which involve the Italian F&B excellence in China, in front of important Media at the local and national level, Italian Institutions and F&B representatives.
While, the 2016 Italian Hospitality Awarding Ceremony will take place later on during other dedicated events organized by the CICC offices in Beijing, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Chongqing accordingly.
The Press Conference started with the preliminary speeches by the Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Mr. Stefano Beltrame and the Director of Italian Trade Agency Shanghai office, Mr. Claudio Pasqualucci, on the role of Italian F&B culture in China.
Following, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) Vice-Chairman, Mr. Valtero Canepa, gave an overview on the Italian Hospitality Project announcing one by one the 66 Italian restaurants certified for this 2016 edition. The 66 restaurants are located in 13 important cities in China (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Chongqing, Chengdu). The Vice-Chairman anticipated that the Awarding Ceremony will take place on 3rd December during the CICC Gala Dinner in Guangzhou for the restaurants located in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai; on 4th December during the CICC Christmas Lunch in Suzhou for the restaurants located in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi; the dates and locations of the awarding ceremonies for the restaurants located in Beijing, Tianjin and Chongqing, Chengdu will be communicated successively.
Then, the word passed to the CICC F&B Working Group Coordinator, Mr. Angelo Morano, who presented briefly what is the CICC Working Group with a focus on the newly established F&B working group and its objectives.
Moreover, Mr. Morano introduced the CICC activities which will take place during the “First Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’ which will take place from 21st-27th November, among which the 2016 Beijing Gala Dinner on 26th November that will have the pleasure to host the famous Italian Chef, Carlo Cracco as menu curator and promoter of Italy’s culinary tradition as one of the most distinctive features of the Brand Italy. At the latter mentioned event it will also be announced the result of donations collected by the Italian restaurants that participated to the solidary project “Un Futuro per Amatrice” in support of Amatriciana city hit by an earthquake last 24th August.
The last part of the event was presented by the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture, Mr. Alberto Manai, who introduced two speakers: Ms Alessandra Lavagnino and Ms. Antonella Orlandi.
Firstly, Ms. Alessandra Lavagnino, Professor at University of Milan, presented a video about her project on the Nutrition Dictionary (Dizionario dell’alimentazione). The idea of creating a Dictionary on Nutrition is an idea originated during Expo Shanghai 2010 and since then it followed a continuity until Expo Milano 2015 where it became an important tool for all those foreign visitors. The Dictionary, drafted in three languages (Italian, English and Chinese), comprises of the main and most frequently used words in four important terminological domains: science and technology for the power supply; food, cooking recipes and techniques; nourishment and nutritional education; nutritional safety.
Secondly, Ms. Antonella Orlandi, one of the founders of ‘Bologna Connect’, a no-profit association focused on wide-spreading culture and tradition of Emilia Romagna region abroad, presented one of Bologna Connect’s initiatives, a Recipe Book on the culinary traditions of Emilia Romagna region.
The event was concluded with a Q&A session and a wine tasting of Pinot Grigio Terre Siciliane I.G.T offered by Insiderchina and NEOCAMPANA Chianti DOCG Governo all'Uso Toscano offered by Gruppo Italiano Vini.

About Italian Hospitality
Q as Quality.
This is the seal that promotes and certifies the Italian restaurants ambassadors of the Made in Italy abroad.
This is well known by the Italian restaurants in China which have participated to the Italian Hospitality Project, certification of quality born in 1997, promoted by Unioncamere and supported by the National Institute for Tourism Research and five Italian Ministries (Foreign Affairs, Cultural Heritage, Economic Development, Tourism, and Agriculture) and realized thanks to the constant support of the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad.
