Suzhou
14 October 2022
The second round of the series of meetings "Italy Meets China" was held on September 21st, 2022. It was dedicated to the Suzhou Industrial Park, with a focus on existing investment opportunities for Italian companies operating in the biomedical sector. The event was organized by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Suzhou Industrial Park Investment Promotion Committee, the Jiangsu Suzhou Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort and Ditek. "Italian companies in Suzhou have grown significantly from 2018 to 2021. Today there are 180 Italian companies that have already taken root in this dynamic and beautiful city, most of which are gathered inside the Suzhou Industrial Park, currently the largest Italian manufacturing cluster outside Europe. I take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the Authorities of Suzhou and the Suzhou Industrial Park for their continuous support to Italian companies, and for their commitment to building an innovative and creative business environment", stressed Alessandra Palumbo, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai. Afterwards, the Secretary General of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, Renzo Isler, gave an overview of our Chamber, recalling that the CICC is the only organization designated by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs for Italian entrepreneurs and professionals, which helps Italian companies to cope with changes in the external environment as well as to further develop and strengthen their business in China. “In recent years, the CICC has organized many activities covering a wide range of sectors, offering greater opportunities for collaboration between Italian and Chinese businessmen. In the future, the activity of the CICC will continue to be consolidated, providing a solid basis for the future development of cooperation between Italy and China”, Mr Isler said. The Director of SIP Investment Promotion Committee, Jiang Weiming, then underlined that "Suzhou and Italy have a long history of friendship. The Investment Promotion Committee of SIP and Jiangsu Suzhou Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort are very supportive of the development and growth of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce within the Suzhou Industrial Park, and both sides have developed a good interaction. This meeting, organized with the aim of building a platform, a bridge capable of connecting Italian companies operating in the biomedical sector with the SIP, helped companies to better understand existing investment opportunities and market conditions in the area, thus promoting our friendly cooperation." Following this, Alessandra Gelera, Life Science Supply Chain Coordinator of Assolombarda, introduced the Biomedical Industrial Park in Italy, while Alberto Bortoli, Managing Director of Fresenius HemoCare Italia and Coordinator of the Healthcare Value Chain of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, presented the biomedical zone and drug science and technology park in Mirandola. Zhang Hanzhi, Deputy Division Chief of Suzhou Industrial Park Investment Promotion Board, introduced the SIP and its biomedical industry.
