Event Description:

In this 3-hour workshop, be prepared to actively participate! Why? Because, while many of us have heard about assertiveness as an essential part of what it means to be an effective leader, a collaborative team member, and a great communicator generally, few of us have a clear understanding of what it actually means or requires in practice. And that`s what we`ll do! We’ll clear up common confusions between being assertive and being aggressive and draw links between confident and assertive attitudes and behaviors. We’ll look at how to effectively get your voice heard but in an effort to find real win-win situations in your daily work and lives. Being assertive requires using judgment, so we`ll apply the skill across a variety of challenging situations. Come prepared to be challenged, to share, to reflect, and work together with like-minded professionals!

Objectives:

• Understand what it means to be assertive – as a communication style, a mindset and as a set of behaviors
• Be able to seek win-win solutions to the challenges you face – that means ensuring that you get want you want and need, and so does everyone else.
• Express yourself confidently and directly
• Learn to identify aggressive, passive and passive-aggressive styles of communication and respond assertively
• Look at the some challenging, real cases and see assertive attitudes and behaviors in action.
• Share ideas with like-minded professionals.

Who should attend?

Our only requirement is that you come with an open mind, prepared to share, and expect to develop some practical tools that you can easily integrate into your daily life and work!
