Dear Members and Friends,

The seminar 'Updates on PRC individual income tax reform' was successfully held on November 28th in Guangzhou.

First of all, we would like to thank the Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou Mrs. Lucia Pasqualini and the Consul Mrs. Alice Rubini for their presence at the event.

CICC would like to give our special thanks to Dezan Shira & Associates, in particular to Valeria Manunza and Daisy Huang for supporting the event as speakers.

Our special thank goes also to Wang Jing Law Firm for kindly providing the venue for the seminar.

And last but not least, a special thanks to Caffitaly which provided the authentic Italian coffee as well as a refreshment during the break.

The seminar gathered more than 30 people, that actively participated with great interest.

The aim of the seminar was to give an overview about the new fiscal regulation approved by the Chinese Government last August that concerns Chinese people as well as foreigners. The speakers, Valeria Manunza and Daisy Huang of Dezan Shira & Associates, introduced the new IIT reform focusing on 6 main themes namely:

• Introduction to key changes and policy rationale
• Consolidation of income categories
• Deductions
• New income tax brackets
• Taxation of non-residents
• Compliance, Administration and General Anti Avoidance Rules (GAAR)
After the speakers explanation, a session of Q&A helped the public to deepen the knowledge about the topic.

The seminar was followed by an Informal Business Dinner at Mammamia Italian Restaurant, where participants and speakers met in a more informal and relaxed way in order to continue talking and better knowing each other. It was a great opportunity for the Italian as well as the international community to meet and share ideas.

Finally, we would like to give our sincere thanks to all the participants who joined us and look forward to seeing you again in the upcoming events.
