The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is pleased to inform you that the event "Italy Meets China: Suzhou SIP Focus" will be held on September 21st, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm both online and offline at Room 222, 2nd floor of the Eco Building, No.2 Keying Road, SIP, Suzhou.
The event is organized by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, the Suzhou Industrial Park Investment Promotion Committee and the Jiangsu Suzhou Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort Administrative Committee.
In recent years, the trade and investment cooperation between Suzhou and Italy has grown rapidly. In 2008, the number of Italian investment firms in Suzhou was only about 50. But in 2021 the number of Italian firms operating in Suzhou rose to 180, with the total number almost quadrupled. Furthermore, the effective use of Italian foreign capital was approximately 600 million US dollars. Suzhou has now become the city where Italian overseas investments are most concentrated.
The Suzhou Industrial Park, an important innovation hub in China, has vigorously developed the biomedical industry in recent years, focusing on key sectors such as the creation of new drugs, high-end medical devices and biotechnology, thus shaping a biomedical industrial system characterized by a high concentration of talents and a well-developed innovative ecosystem.
With this second meeting, it is our intention to build a bridge that connects the Italian companies operating in the biomedical sector with the Suzhou Industrial Park. During the event, a detailed overview of the market conditions, existing investment opportunities and successful case studies of the Suzhou Industrial Park will be provided, so that more and more Italian entrepreneurs can get to know this important reality.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, representatives of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Italian companies with investments in the area in sectors such as equipment manufacturing, mechanical engineering, medicine and health, new energy, environmental protection, etc., as well as representatives of companies in the biomedical sector of the Suzhou Industrial Park.
"Italy Meets China: Suzhou SIP Focus" is the second round of a series of meetings aimed at promoting Italian business through a platform dedicated to the CICC Members and other China-Italy industrial associations, allowing them to engage into practical dialogues with the aim of strengthening commercial cooperation with local partners in various key territories of China.
Starting from an overview of the various territories in which our companies, our Members are located and carry out their business activities – using our new tool "China-Italy Business Map" as a reference –, the meetings will touch on concrete topics such as incentives to support businesses, opportunities for new collaborations with Italian companies in the various territories and insights into the local business environment. Some representatives, from the local Italian business community, are also invited to share their experiences on doing business in the region, with a focus on future opportunities and challenges.
After the first two meetings dedicated to the Yunnan province and Suzhou Industrial Park, "Italy meets China” will then take you through the discovery of business insights in many other territories. Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tianjin, Nanjing, Greater Bay Area, and many other second and third tier cities and provinces will be involved in the program in the coming months.
