CICC Board Meets in Shanghai, February 28th 2022

The Board of Directors of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce met in Shanghai on February 28th 2022.

It was the last meeting of the Board of Directors elected for the two-year period 2020-2022. For the occasion, the CICC Honorary Chairman, H.E. Luca Ferrari, Ambassador of Italy to the P.R.C., and the newly appointed Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Ms Tiziana D'Angelo, were invited to participate by the CICC Chairman Mr Paolo Bazzoni and the CICC Board Members.

After the welcome greetings, H.E. Ambassador Luca Ferrari congratulated the CICC on the growth results achieved in the last two years, as well as on the work carried out in close synergy with the Italian Embassy and institutions in China. He then shared with the CICC Board some present and future priorities, including air travel between Italy and China.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Italy to the P.R.C. have given top priority to the issue of international mobility, doing everything in their power to guarantee air connections between Italy and China.

The meeting then continued with a presentation by the CICC Secretary General, Mr Renzo Isler. Among the issues addressed by Mr Isler there was an analysis of the results of the online vote that led last week to the amendment of some of the CICC Articles of Association. The approved changes will, among other things, allow to provide adequate coverage on the territory, increasing the number of board members. The new CICC Articles of Association will be the basis for the upcoming 2022-24 Board of Directors elections.

Many of the topics discussed in the meeting will be presented to the General Assembly convened for March 31st 2022.

At the end of the meeting, CICC Chairman Mr Paolo Bazzoni highlighted the main results achieved by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce during his two-year term:
1. Strong growth of the membership base, with 838 Members and Friends (+ 144.7% on an annual basis);
2. Expansion of the presence in China with the opening of two new offices in Chengdu and Shenzhen and significant increase in collaborations with local counterparts;
3. Strengthening of services to support Italy-China mobility through, among other things, the organization of charter flights;
4. Increase in the proactivity and effectiveness of the working groups;
5. Expansion of collaborations with trade associations in Italy;
6. Closer synergy with the Embassy of Italy, the Consulates, ITA - Italian Trade Agency to increase the authority of the Italian System and strengthen the competitiveness of the Italian business community.

Finally, Chairman Bazzoni thanked all those present for their active and professional contribution to achieving these results.
