On March 5, 2025, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and its Logistics Working Group (LWG) together with the Energy and Environment Protection Working Group (EEPWG) hosted the webinar "Powering the Future: Green Fuels and Sustainability in China's Logistics Industry". The event provided attendees with valuable insights into the role of biofuels and other sustainable practices in the logistics sector, fostering a deeper understanding of green solutions and their applications.
HIGHLIGHTS
Systems View and Resilience: Lorne Michael Cousins, Founder at the Sustainability Directory, emphasized the need for a systems view to achieve sustainability, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation in building resilience.
Break Even Goals: Companies must eliminate negative impacts and strive for a neutral or positive impact on the environment and society through comprehensive assessments of supply chain impacts, operational emissions, and product sustainability.
Biofuels and Emission Reduction: Liu Zhao, Pre-Sales Technical Manager at Rina Shanghai Quality Certification, provided an overview of biofuels and their applications in transportation, power generation, and heating and cooling, emphasizing their potential to significantly reduce emissions.
Decarbonization in Logistics: Alejandra Reyes, Global Sustainability Project Manager at JAS Global Forwarding, highlighted the logistics industry's role in reducing global GHG emissions, noting that achieving zero GHG emissions in freight transport could reduce global emissions by over 11%.
