CICC at the CCPIT Global Trade & Investment Promotion Summit

On May 13, 2024, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce was invited at the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit, now in its third year under the organization of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). 

 

The summit, held at the prestigious Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, saw the participation of the distinguished guests Mr. Han Zheng, Vice President of the People's Republic of China who attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, and Ms. Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank.

 

This year's summit pivoted around the theme “Mutual Trust and Cooperation: Navigating through profound Changes" focused on addressing global challenges through enhanced trust and cooperation, aiming to introduce greater stability and predictability into international markets.

 

The summit welcomed more than 300 representatives from 39 countries and regions and 170 overseas institutions, including the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, and it involved the representatives from all 18 foreign chambers of commerce in China as well as more than 40 heads of overseas trade promotion organizations, and senior executives from Fortune 500 companies. The total number of Chinese and foreign guests reached more than 750.

 

 

CICC Chairman, Lorenzo Riccardi, was invited as a panelist in the panel discussion of the Plenary Session themed "Opening Up Supply Chains, Creating Win-Win Chains", moderated by Tian Wei from CGTN. The discussion featured esteemed panelists including Mr. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the CCPIT and chairs of foreign chambers of commerce.

 

During the discussion, Chairman Riccardi highlighted the influence of government policies, economic agreements and incentives on supply chains, using as examples the Italian businesses in the Suzhou industrial cluster, the visit of the Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao to Italy, and interest in increasing bilateral investments. He stressed the importance of international and domestic policies promoting facilitations to trade and incentives for new business projects.

 

 

 

The "2024 Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit Beijing Initiative" was released during the summit by CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin on behalf of the business community, emphasizing "open cooperation" as the ongoing key focus of the summit.
