First Advanced Technology & Engineering Challenge (A-TEC)

Dear Members and Friends,

The Advanced Technology & Engineering Challenge (A-TEC) is hosted by Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, organized by Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen and Leaguer Group and co-organized by Federation of Shenzhen Industries and other units.

As an international first-class competition, A-TEC is committed to discover, guide and cultivate cutting-edge technologies worldwide. The competition is classified into Innovation Contest and Championship in the form of real-object competition and roadshows, open to any team or corporate from any country.

To be held every two years, the competition aims at gathering high-quality global scientific and technological innovation resources and promoting the transformation of cutting-edge technologies’ application and development and technological academic achievements and results, and aims to become a permanent global brand of innovative scientific and technological competition. The first A-TEC has already been started since Sept. 2019.

This information is sent in order to promote the competition and any eligible project or team is welcome to sign up actively.

 

I. Brief Introduction of A-TEC

The Innovation Contest

 

i. Form

The Innovation Contest is carried out in the forms of roadshow and Q&A, aiming to explore disruptive innovation ad breakthroughs.

 

ii. Industries

The Innovation Contest covers three industries: AI, cyberspace, and biotechnology, focusing on the following fields:

AI: unmanned system, machine game playing, distributed collaboration, human-machine hybrid, and other innovative technologies and applications;

Cyberspace: network information security, application of 5G in vertical industries, networked microsystems, and other innovative technologies and applications;

Biotechnology: biomaterials, biomimetic materials, biosimilar intelligence technologies, new synthetic biology technologies, human condition monitoring, health improvement, and other innovative technologies and applications.

 

iii. Time & Schedule

The Innovation Contest is designed into five stages: registration, preliminary, repecharge, overseas and final. The awards are allocated to 7 teams with top finals in each field.

Registration: domestic divisions: 29th, Sept. 2019 - 30th, Apr. 2020; overseas divisions: 29th, Sept. 2019 - 31st, May 2020

Preliminary: Jan. 2020 - May. 2020

Repecharge: Jun. 2020

Overseas: Mar. 2020 - Jun. 2020

Final: Jul. 2020

 

iv. Venue

The Innovation Contest consists of domestic and overseas divisions, and participants should choose their own divisions accordingly in registration. Domestic divisions include: North China (Beijing, Tianjin, Ha’erbin), Yangtze River Delta (Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing), GBA (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macow, Nanning), Southwest China (Chengdu, Chongqing, Changsha, Wuhan), Northwest China (Xi’an, Luoyang); overseas divisions include: Europe (England, Germany) and Asia (Japan, Israel).

The preliminary and repecharge will be hosted in the division that participants choose in registration and the final will be hosted in Shenzhen.

 

v. Participants and Requirements:

The competition is open to any team or corporate from any country. Specific requirements are as follows:

(1) All candidate projects shall be related to AI, cyberspace, and biotechnology or their segmented fields.

(2) Candidate projects should be innovative and technologically advanced.

(3) Candidate teams shall show strong ability in technical research and development.

(4) Team members and their organizations shall have good social reputation and no bad records.

(5) The products, technologies and patents of projects to be submitted shall belong to the team, team member or organization, and there is no property right dispute.

 

vi. Scoring standard

The scores will be given according to whether the projector programme submitted fits the industry and meets the technical requirements of the competition, including subversiveness and breakthrough (30%), application potential, economic and social benefits (30%), technical feasibility and maturity (20%) and team collaboration (20%).

 

The Championship

i. Form

The first A-TEC Championship will be held in the form of real-object competition, which seeks for excellent solutions and products in specific application scenarios.

 

ii. Proposition

The proposition of the Championship is “Post-disaster Area Detection and Treatment”.

 

iii. Time & Schedule

The Championship is designed into four stages: registration, qualifying match, repecharge and final.

Registration: 29th, Sept. 2019 - 30th, Apr. 2020

Qualifying match: 31st, Dec. 2019 - 30th, May. 2020

Repecharge: Jun. 2020

Final: Nov. 2020

 

iv. Venue

The Championship collects project or programme around the globe, during which the repecharge and final will be hosted in Shenzhen.

 

v. Participants and Requirements:

The competition is open to any team or corporate from any country. Specific requirements are as follows:

(1) Candidate projects must be physical robots with capabilities of movement, operation, communication, perception, endurance, and survival.

(2) Candidate projects must be able to complete specified tasks set under the competition proposition.

(3) Candidate teams shall be good at technical research and development and system integration.

(4) Team members and their organizations shall have good social reputation and no bad records.

(5) The products, technologies and patents of projects to be submitted shall belong to the team, team member or organization, and there is no property right dispute.

 

II. Awards

The total awards of the A-TEC is 24 million RMB, which is allocated in combination of cash and research fund.
