On May 10th, 2023, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) was invited to participate in the signing ceremony for the construction of a new plant of the Italian company FuturaSun. The new factory – an N-type solar cell manufacturing plant – will be built in Qingjiangpu District, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, covering a total construction area of 300,000 ㎡.
FuturaSun, a member of the CICC, is a well-known photovoltaic technology company headquartered in Italy. It has more than 15 years of experience in fields such as R&D, design, production and sales of photovoltaic solar modules.
The total investment planned for the new FuturaSun plant amounts to RMB 5 billion. The construction will consist of two phases: the first phase is expected to be completed in 2024, mainly producing high-efficiency N-type solar cells, with a cell capacity expected to reach 10GW.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ms Alessandra Palumbo, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, Mr Fabio Antonello, Vice President of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, Mr Ermanno Vitali, CICC Board Member in the East region, Mr Zhu Haibo, Party Secretary of the Qingjiangpu District in Huai'an City, and Mr Xu Ning, COO & Co-Founder of FuturaSun.
At the beginning of the event, Mr Zhu Haibo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Qingjiangpu District, Huai'an City, welcomed the guests: “The FuturaSun N-type solar cell production facility in Qingjiangpu District will certainly play an important leading role in the industrial upgrading, transformation and development of Qingjiangpu District.”
Ms Alessandra Palumbo, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, said: “FuturaSun is an Italian company of excellence that has placed great emphasis on investment in research and development since its foundation in 2008. It is the persistent and tireless efforts of the Italian company in the field of innovation that have contributed significantly not only to the development of high quality products, but also to the achievement of important goals such as environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality. We wish the FuturaSun N-type solar cell production facility every success.”
Mr Ermanno Vitali, CICC Board Member in the East region, said: “It is my great pleasure to be present today to this great ceremony because this is a special occasion for FuturaSun, taking all of us to a significant step towards a more sustainable future. At this facility, FuturaSun will be manufacturing solar Cells with the latest and best production technology. This means that FuturaSun will help to reduce carbon footprint and create a cleaner environment for generations to come. I believe that it will not be just a facility, it will be a symbol of commitment to a greener future.”
Mr Xu Ning, COO and Co-Founder of FuturaSun, said: “Under the consensus of developing new energy and helping energy transformation, and driven by the deepening cooperation between China and Italy, we will draw a new chapter of Sino-Italian cooperation together with Huaian Qingjiangpu District. We believe that this cooperation will maximize the advantages of both sides and enable mutual empowerment, complementary advantages and common development in a deeper and wider field in the future.”
From Italy, FuturaSun CEO & Founder, Mr Alessandro Barin sent his best wishes for the signing ceremony and greetings to the leaders and guests present.
“FuturaSun hopes to continue to combine the industry experience and technology reserves accumulated over the years with China's well-established PV supply chain, to seize the opportunities of the energy transition, and to become an Italian corporate template for the integration and synergy between East and West.”
Mr Paolo Viscontini, President of the Italian Photovoltaic Association, and Dr Radovan Kopecek, General Manager of ISC Konstanz Advanced Cell Technology, also sent their best wishes and greetings from far away, fully acknowledging FuturaSun's efforts to promote new energy cooperation between China and Europe.
