Panda d’Oro Award, 2012 Edition

The prizes of “Panda d’Oro Award, 2012 Edition” organized by the China Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) were awarded during the Italian Gala Dinner 2012 at the Langham Xintiandi Hotel on June 16th in Shanghai.

The “Panda d’Oro Award, 2012 Edition” was organized by CICC in partnership with Fondazione Itali

stry of Economic Development.
“Panda d’Oro Award” is the annual event to highlight companies and individuals, Italian and Chinese, which have most contributed to the strengthening and development of bilateral economic relations between Italy and China.


Five prizes in four different categories were awarded during the gala evening. Winners were awarded by Judging Panel amongst a range of self-nominated Chinese and Italian enterprises selected by the Selection Committee.
The Ambassador of Italy to China, His Excellency Attilio Massimo Iannucci was the Honorary President of the Judging Panel, which was chaired by the Chairman of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, Franco Cutrupia.
Besides them, the Judging Panel was composed of entrepreneurs, successful and renown business man, as well as institutional representatives: Cesare Romiti, Chairman of the Fondazione Italia Cina, Margherita Barberis, Director General of the Fondazione Italia Cina, the Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Vincenzo de Luca, Antonino Laspina ICE Director, the Vice Chairman of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China from the districts of Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively Claudio d`Agostino and Raffaele Rizzarelli and the Sole24Ore correspondent Luca Vinciguerra.
The Selection Committee was composed by Thomas Rosenthal of Fondazione Italia Cina, and by CICC Board Members Cosimo Bellanova and Fiorenzo Brioschi.

Following Prizes were awarded:
- “Panda d’Oro – China Award” to Fiat Automotive Finance Co., Ltd.
- “Best project Panda Award” ex-aequo to Triumph Asia Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Vibram Rubber Co., Ltd. (respectively with reference to the projects Italian Festival in Suzhou and Vibram Technological Centre in Guangzhou)
- “Voyager Panda Award” to Voglia d’Italia Tour S.r.l
- “Best Italian SME in China Award” to SCM Group China Trading Co., Ltd.

The Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Vincenzo De Luca, the Commercial Counselor in Beijing, Davide Giglio, the Italian Trade Commission Director in Beijing, Antonino Laspina, the Italian Trade Commission Director in Shanghai, Maurizio Forte, the General Manager of the Expo Trade Co. Ltd, Richard Wei, the Director of the Friendly Association of the People of Suzhou, Pan Yue, were among the distinguished guests who attended the event held at the Xintiandi Grand Ball Room.


A large number of CICC Members and Friends were also present. The total number of participants exceeded 250.

A traditional meeting of the “Art in Life Series®”, The 2012 Italian Grand Gala has been an opportunity to promote Made in Italy and Italian lifestyle in China. As in previous editions, the choices made for the menu` and the gala dinner wines reflect the Italian culinary tradition. Besides, during the gala, CICC Board Member Angelo Morano presented to the public the contents of the “Italian Hospitality Seal” project, now in its third edition in China. A video depicting how Italian cuisine abroad can nonetheless be the expression of Italianness was projected.


On the entertainment side, guests enjoyed the music of the band "Nello & the Cats" - the first Italian band from China entirely founded in Shanghai in 2010. Besides, guests had the opportunity to watch a traditional drums performance from Shandong province offered by the Mayor of Jining, She Chun Ming.
