Post event - Dinner Celebrating Knowledge and Italian Lands Flavors – November 29, Shanghai

Dear Members and Friends,

At the end of  the “ 5th Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World” and in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Pellegrino Artusi, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and The Italian Trade Commission (ITA-ICE), with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, held a dinner to celebrate the knowledge and Italian Lands Flavors at the restaurant Frasca.

  

  

During the event, chef Marino D’Antonio prepared a 4-course meal, based on Pellegrino Artusi's recipes, an influencer from 200 years ago, who wrote a book about regional Italian recipes that is still used today all over the world.

 

 

The 90 Guests of the dinner enjoyed Baccalà Montebianco (recipe 118), Risotto alla Milanese (recipe 79), Fricandò (recipe 255) and Zuppa del Duca (recipe 675).

 

  

  

 

Among the guests of the night the Italian Consul Maria Ludovica Murazzani, who welcomed the audience, followed by Massimiliano Tremiterra, Trade Commissioner at the Shanghai office of ITA. During the night, he presented a new initiative in cooperation with ALMA school, a leading international educational and training center for Italian Cuisine: a pilot culinary education program. 16 “Authentic Italian Taste in one minute” short videos produced by ALMA for family education will soon be available on the social media accounts of ITA and retail partners. Also, for professional cooking training, ALMA has designed expert courses, 40- 50minute long videos, in cooperation with top domestic cooking schools such as China Vocational School and Zhejiang Tourism Vocational College, etc.

 

  

 

The event was also an occasion to celebrate the winners of the social contest “My Italian dinner”. From the 14th to the 28th of November a list of 18 selected restaurants offered a special regional dish paired with the Italian wine of the same region that could be voted by consumers in Shanghai and Suzhou.

Valtero Canepa, CICC Vice-Chairman in Shanghai, announced the dish winner of the contest: "Porchetta" from Italo Italian Restaurant, by chef Luigi Gonzo.

 

   

 

The My Italian dinner contest also involved the consumers: the person who got the highest number of likes by posting pictures of its Italian dinner on a social platform won two tickets to Italy, provided by Etihad Airways.

Michelle Zuo, Etihad Sales Manager – Eastern China, announced the winner among the consumers who participated in the social competition.

 

Then Guido Mologni, ALMA Asia Ambassador, gave an Alma award to Marzio Tomasini, representing Pistacchio Italian Restaurant.
