Post Event - First day of the China International Industry Fair and inauguration of the Italian National Pavillion

Dear Members and Friends,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce is glad to inform you that on September 15, the Italian National Pavilion officially was unveiled at the 22nd China International Industry Fair. The fair will last until the 19th of September, gathering thousands of participants. In the 2019 edition, over 200.000 visitors joined the fair.

Italy is participating at CIIF with 47 leading Italian companies located in China, under the coordination of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce CICC, with the support of ICE-ITA Italian Trade Agency and all the Italian diplomatic/consul network in China.  It is the first time for CIIF to witness well-known Italian enterprises and SMEs to jointly participate in this event, a showcase of the savoir-faire and deep strength of the Italian industry.

The day started with a VIP tour for Italian institutions and 28 selected Italian companies who had the chance to visit the fair, greeted by a Chinese delegation. The Major of Shanghai, Gong Zheng and Party Secretary of Shanghai, Li Qiang joined by the Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology while visiting the Italian National Pavilion stopped by Maserati and Danieli company and greeted their rapresentatives.

The CIIF opening and award ceremony took place at 9.30 am, with an inaugural video message of the Italian Ambassador to the PRC, Luca Ferrari.

                                             

At 11 am the Italian National Pavilion was officially inaugurated. At the opening ceremony of the National Pavilion, the Minister Counsellor Emanuele de Maigret, Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of Italy in the P.R.C., Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commissioner and Coordinator of ICE/ITA Offices in China and Mongolia, and Paolo Bazzoni, Chairman of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce welcomed all the visitors and highlight the great importance of this result, stressing the further opportunities of China market as well as their expectations for the infinite possibilities of industrial cooperation between China and Italy in the future. Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization Vice Director Rong Zhiqin also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the opening of the Italian National Pavilion and sent an auspicious message to wish further in-depth cooperation between these two countries to boost mutual economic growth.

  

  

In the afternoon the first Seminar on Sustainable Technology, Mechanics and Mobility took place. The seminar was kicked off with institutional greetings by Emanuele de Maigret, followed by Chen Mingbo, Vice Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipality, Cheng Peng, Director General of the Ecology and Environment Office of the Shanghai Municipality and Paolo Bazzoni.

The event was structured with three separated sessions. During the first one dedicated to Research and University Andrea Tonoli, Professor at the Turin Politecnico, department of Mechanical Engineering and Areospace, Zhnag Li Jun, Head of the Tongji University School of Automotive Engineering and Claudio Rossi, Professor at the University of Bologna in Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Electronics, discussed about the potentialities of sustainable vehicles.

Later, Roberto Fedeli, in charge of Global Innovation for Fiat Chrysler Automobile and CEO of the Research Centre of FCA, Shi Jie, Vice director General of the Department of International Affairs of SAIC (Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation) and Gianpaolo Bruno, examined the connection between Research and Industry.

Lastly, a fruitful round table among Giovanni Pau, Professor at the University of Bologna and University of California in Intelligent Network Systems, Mirko Bordiga, CEO of Maserati China, Antonio Farese, CICC Board Member and Shi Jie, moderated by Roberto Pagani, Attaché for Science and Technology at the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, took place, assessing the conjugation of luxury and sustainability in the complex and competitive Chinese market.

After the Seminar’s conclusion, the eventful day ended with a networking cocktail.
