Post Event - Second day of the China International Industry Fair and the first Sino Italian industry and Innovation Forum

Dear Members and Friends of the CICC,

Today, September 16th 2020, marked the second day of the China International Industry Fair (CIIF).

Italy is participating at CIIF with 47 leading Italian firms and SMEs located in China, under the coordination of CICC (China-Italy Chamber of Commerce), with the support of ICE/ITA (Italian Trade Agency) and all the Italian diplomatic and consular network in China.

 

The day started with the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Shanghai SUMEC Business Consulting Co. Ltd and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC).

 

 

The event was followed by a presentation of the SACE Simest, the Italian export credit agency. There, the Minister Counsellor Emanuele de Maigret, Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of Italy in the P.R.C., Jay Chen SACE China relationship Manager, and Darren Chau, Shanghai Business Department Project manager stressed the important role of export and the willingness to step up Sino Italian cooperation.

  

In the afternoon took place the first Sino Italian industry and Innovation Forum, an effective and in-depth exchange platform for both Chinese and Italian enterprises and lay a solid foundation for future cooperation in industrial related industries. The new cooperation platform will allow for the upgrading of mutually beneficial strategic outputs, for a win-win industrial development of the two countries.

Held at the Shanghai Parkyard Hotel and organised by the Italian Embassy in China, Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and Alicloud Innovation Center (Zhangjiang) Base, the China International Industry Fair Organizing Committee Office with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai and Shanghai Zhangjiang Science City Construction Management Office, it is part of the series activities launched by the Office of the Organizing Committee of CIIF.

Michele Cecchi, Italian Consul General in Shanghai, made his welcome speech on behalf of the Italian government, expressing his high expectations for future prospect of China-Italy cooperation. On behalf of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Rong Zhiqin, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information, attended the forum and extended his congratulations to the opening of the event. He looked forward to seeing Italian companies to have all-around collaboration with Shanghai City in the industry field. Paolo Bazzoni, Chairman of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce emphasized in his speech that China and Italy enjoyed strong connection in the mechanic industry, with 50% of Italian export of mechanics and engineering focused on China.

 

  

At the forum, Mr. Antonio Farese, CICC Board Member, shared his analysis of the Italian industry sector by demonstrating its strength and advantages. He hoped that the Italian industry could make its own contribution to the progress of China’s modernization.  Themed upon Interpretation of Shanghai's Advanced Manufacturing Planning, the keynote speech made by Director Zhao Guangjun from Comprehensive Planning Division of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, presented the advantages, planning, locations and policies of Shanghai's advanced manufacturing industry. Additionally, three Italian companies representing smart manufacturing, new energy vehicles and innovative technology sectors made their case-sharing presentations to the audience: Antony Margiasso ,  Head of Industrial Design, Pininfarina, Fabrizio Giambra , President of Marposs and Francois David Martino , CEO of Danieli.

Feng Da from Zhangjiang Investment Promotion Center made a presentation in the title of New Eco System and New Zhangjiang Group to Help Zhangjiang Science Town Continue to Iterate and Upgrade. He elaborated Zhangjiang Town’s value proposition and development from different perspectives and proposed a new blueprint that will make Zhangjiang a world-class science town in the future.

In addition, the forum witnesses the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between SMEs Development Service Center, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Shanghai Creative City Technology Development Co. Ltd., for close collaboration between China and Italy to further boost future economic and trade growth.
