The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) organized a special edition of its Monthly Networking Dinner during the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2022 on November 18th at La Scala in Shanghai.
The event was open to both CICC Members and Non-Members; 55 participants from different business sectors took part in this special dinner aimed at celebrating the Italian food culture while simultaneously providing a significant networking opportunity for all members of the Italian community. On this important occasion Consul General Tiziana D’Angelo, and Commercial Consul Alessandra Palumbo of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai also joined the celebration.
The new chef of restaurant La Scala, Enrico de Martino, offered a rich menu of delicious Italian specialties paired with exquisite wines. In accordance with the spirit of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World initiative, all dishes were prepared with top-quality products belonging to DOP/IGT categories following this year’s theme of “Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation: the ingredients of Italian cuisine for people's health and the protection of the planet”.
Starting with a delicious Burrata, Bresaola carpaccio, deep fried pasta and pork pate with caramelized onions as appetizer, proceeding with pumpkin risotto flavoured with a fondue of typical Italian cheeses and then a tasty Stracotto braised beef brisket served with polenta, all participants experienced a real journey of flavours with a selection of dishes mixing the best delicacies of Northern and Southern Italian regions. Not to mention the fresh and sweet Baba’ dessert with Chantilly cream and berries.
During the evening, the CICC’s Food & Beverage Working Group (F&BWG) entertained the guests with a friendly competition on the DOP/IGT designations of Italian products. Pairing each product with the correct label certainly was a fun way for our guests to test their knowledge! Prizes for the competition were kindly sponsored by Good Italy.
