"Un Futuro per Amatrice" Press Conference, September 26th, 2016_Post Event

Dear Members and Friends of CICC,

Yesterday a press conference was held to present the solidarity project "Un Futuro per Amatrice", organized by Slow Food and Terra Madre and fully endorsed by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Italy in China. The aim of the event was to raise the Chinese public awareness on this important initiative. The press conference took place at the Italian Cultural Centre and saw the participation of more than 50 Chinese and Italian journalist, as well as several representatives of the Italian restaurants in the Beijing, Qingdao and Tianjin jurisdiction that endorsed the solidarity project.

   

The press conference started with the opening speech of the Italian Ambassador Ettore F. Sequi, followed by a brief video of the Italian city Amatrice (avialable here) and the speech of the CICC Chairman Sergio Bertasi.

It was then the turn of some of the restaurants' representatives to take the stage and say a few words about the origins of "pasta all'amatriciana" and talk about their personal experiences with this solidarity project.

At the end of the press conference, Chef Giuseppe De Stefano from La Pizza Italian restaurant and Marino D'Antonio from Opera Bombana held a demonstration to show to the Chinese media how "pasta all'amatriciana" is prepared.

   

At the end of the show cooking, the guests were invited in the Ambassador's residence to taste some "pasta all'amatriciana".

   

The CICC would like to thank all the guests for their participation and support this important solidarity initiative. Special thanks go to the restaurants that attended the press conference for actively endorsing the project, with a special mention for Italiano Doc, La Pizza, Milano and Opera Bombana restaurants, that volunteered to cook the "pasta all'amatriciana" for the event.
