The 2016 edition of the Suzhou Christmas event, organized by the China Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and it confirmed itself as the biggest event in that area. It was a remarkable success that made December 4th an unforgettable day thanks to approx. 300 guests, including the whole Italian business community and the Chinese Institutions, who participated in the event. 

Among the Chinese attendees, Mr. Li Wenhui, Vice-Director of Suzhou Foreign Affair Office, whose presence highlighted the long-lasting ties between the Italian and Chinese business community operating in the manufacturing pole.

This year the event was a lunch that officially started with a pleasant welcome cocktail in the hotel foyer offered by eight F&B sponsors, followed by the opening speeches of Mr. Stefano Beltrame, Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Mr. Li Wenhui, Vice-Director of Suzhou Foreign Affair Office and Mr. Ji Chuan Wen, Hai’an County’s Associate Director of standing Committees (Diamond Sponsor). The lunch kicked off with the toast of Mr. Stefano Beltrame, Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Mr. Valtero Canepa, Vice-Chairman of the China Italy Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Li Wenhui，Vice-Director of Suzhou Foreign Affair Office, and Mr. Ji Chuan Wen, Hai’an County’s Associate Director of standing Committees.

One of the main topics of the event was the “Italian food”. Starting from the first edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the World that ended on 27th November and saw a series of activities involving the excellence of Italian food and beverage; among these, the activities by the chef Carlo Cracco in Beijing organized by the CICC. Following, in memory of the Italian regions hit by the earthquake on 24th August, the two Italian chefs, Tony Pera and Vito Bellomo, who prepared the menu of the CICC Christmas Lunch, dedicated two recipes to Amatriciana and Norcia towns with a cooking live show: “Amatriciana spaghetti” and “Norcina risotto”. During the lunch it was also held the Awarding Ceremony of Italian Hospitality 2016 edition. The 22 Italian restaurants in the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuxi, certified this year with the Italian Hospitality Seal 2015-2016 (Q) were announced and the representatives of some of those restaurants were awarded on stage: Fratelli la Bufala in Shanghai, Mamma Mia in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Velluto in Shanghai and Suzhou.
